FOUR SEASONS GEORGE V
The Four Seasons George V is considered by some to be the best hotel in the world. It is one of eight hotels in Paris with the "Palace" distinction, a recognition of the establishment as five-star-plus.
The immediate impact when stepping inside the George V is one of awe at the sight and fragrance of its floral display. It's probably safe to say that no hotel does flowers better than the Four Seasons. Under the guiding hand of internationally renowned head florist Jeff Leatham, the lobby and terrace are repeatedly transformed into a flower wonderland with the 9,000-14,000 flowers the hotel receives each week.
But for most guests, flowers are not the main reason for choosing Four Seasons George V. It is a gorgeous property, and the customer service is superb.
George V PREMIER Room
We were in a Premier Room (this category ranges in size from 538 – 651 sq. ft.) and were given an especially nice one with a huge terrace. When we say it may never in this life get better than this (at least, in a hotel stay), this is what we're talking about.
This was part of a three-week trip to France. My favorite activity of the whole three weeks was the picnic we had on our private terrace at George V, where we celebrated a significant anniversary with French Brie and a fresh baguette from the market, a delicious chocolate mousse cake and Veuve Clicquot champagne—all while wearing our Four Seasons bathrobes!
Breakfast at George V
One of Al's most special memories of the whole three-week trip was also at George V: it was eating breakfast. Everything was the best ever our two mornings there—the best French toast we'd ever had and the best-ever chocolate and banana crepe (it had the most amazing chocolate)—but the thing he kept commenting on was the fruit. "How do they make sure that every bite is perfectly ripe?"
It was another small example of why a hotel is not "just a place to sleep."
IF YOU LIKE CARS. . .
There were some attention getters outside the Four Seasons. Just as interesting, in some cases, were the license plates.
